How we work

Overview of our shipping process:

1.) Together with the client we will define the required services and agree on shipping rates,  transit time and other services (e.g. customs clearance, TUV homologation, transit insurance etc.). Our vehicle shipping rates are based on the data provided by the customers and it is necessary to receive accurate information.

2.) We will obtain all required shipping documents (e.g. copy of the vehicle title, sales invoice – bill of sale, ID card, Power of Attorney, pcs order and AE document for  military members etc.) from the involved parties.

3.) If needed we can support the client in the purchasing process e.g. by helping with the payment to foreign accounts, reviewing of the vehicle title documents or by managing inspection services.

4.) Once all documents are obtained we will arrange the booking of all required services with the car shipping companies, trucking services and customs agents and issue the clearance and shipping documents.

5.) Locum Services will contact the shipper, advise where to send the original title documents and agree on pick-up time.

6.) Throughout the vehicle shipping process we will stay in close contact with the customers by e-mail / telephone and keep them informed about the status of their shipments.

7.) Once the vehicle has been loaded on the vessels the import clearance will be prepared so that no time is lost once the vehicles arrive in the final port.

8.) At arrival of the vehicles in the final port we will issue the invoice for our services so the our clients have time to arrange the payment prior to the delivery of their vehicles.

 Items to consider:

  • Always request copies of the vehicle documentation and check them prior to paying for the vehicles. Please make sure there is no lien on the documents as they will not be allowed to be exported (from the USA).
  • Make sure you understand the costs and conditions of your transportation offers – if in doubt: double check and get written confirmation. Make sure all costs for handling, clearance and storage on both the loading and unloading side are included. Some companies charge  additional costs for sending you your documents. This will help avoid surprises when you want to receive your vehicle.
  • We do not recommend to have the original title documents shipped together with the vehicles and therefore will send them by courier / mail to the customers. This is part of our shipping service and will not be charged separately.
  • We can offer vehicle door-door shipments or for some clients it’s preferable to deliver and pick-up their vehicles at the ports themselves. In this case we will provide detailed information, prepare for the delivery or pick-up and send the required documents (e.g. Dock Receipt Form or Delivery Order Form).
  • Vehicle might require local homologation and approval by the authorities prior to registration in the destination country. We can offer these services and seek to get them done “in transit” to the final destination. This will reduce costs and time for our clients.
